compassion…by Henri Nouwen

“The word compassion is derived from the Latin words pati and cum, which together mean “to suffer with.” Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion, and anguish. Compassion challenges us to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears. Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means FULL IMMERSION in the condition of being human.”

music to my ears…

I have been listening to this CD non-stop lately. my husband got it for me on Christmas. It is super mellow music…(in contrast to my not so mellow kids, whom I love deeply…)

If you like old hymns and/or Rosie Thomas, Damien Jurado, Leigh Nash, Dave Bazan or Sufjan Stevens…than you too would appreciate this CD.

one year ago…

We saw this sweet little face for the first time…IMG_0665

our lives are deeper and richer.

we laugh and cry harder.

we are better because of her.

and we are learning so much about her, about us, about the world and about our gracious Jesus.

Thank you January 8th!
